Military Science Building History

With limited facilities on campus, KU lacked a proper place to train future officers for the impending war, so starting in 1940 Chancellor Malott and the Army ROTC commander began to ask the federal government for funds to erect a building on campus for ROTC. Even with funds being appropriated for the project, construction did not begin until March 1, 1941. Building was delayed on the project because of the war effort but was completed in 1943, and the Military Science Building was officially dedicated on December 10, 1943.
