Dean Williams

Lieutenant Williams is a native of Leeds, Alabama. He earned a B.S. in Maritime Transportation and Security from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and was commissioned through the SSMP program.

Following commissioning as a Strategic Sealift Officer (SSO) in the U.S. Navy Reserves (USNR), LT Williams attended various Strategic Sealift Officer trainings and postings, notably being assigned SSO Tactical Advisor and aide for the SSO Commodore and being assigned to the Strategic Ready Reserve Fleet. 

LT Williams currently serves as an Instructor of Naval Science at the University of Kansas. In addition to instructor duties, LT Williams manages all aspects of the command’s Recruiting, Public Affairs, and Equal Opportunity.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Merchant Marine Expeditionary Medal, along with various other unit and personal awards.
